July 1st Housing Crisis unit – help for tenants

Important info: The July 1st crisis unit is in action to help residents of the district

This unit is an initiative of the Côte-des-Neiges — Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough in partnership with CDC Côte-des-Neiges and housing groups: the OEIL Côte-des-Neiges, LogisAction NDG and Project Genesis.

Available services: temporary accommodation, moving, pickup and storage. Information service on tenants’ rights and remedies (Pierre: 438 497-2866).

The work of the groups and the borough made it possible to prevent having too large a number of residents of the neighbourhood without accommodation. However, this morning (July 5, 2020), the Montreal Municipal Housing Office mentioned 450 homeless tenants in Montreal, including several cases related to the continuing context of the housing shortage, but also to the pandemic and too many renovations.

It is imperative that the municipal, provincial and federal levels take action in perennial and effective measures in order to remedy this major issue!

Everyone has the right to decent housing at a reasonable price!
